BADUNG AND DENPASAR



The Badung Regency included Bali’s capital city of Denpasar and major  tourist beach resort . the Bali kingdom rose during the 19th century with the growing importance of trade and as the dutch defeated other balinese rulers. This ended in  1906 with the Dutch mascre of the badung house which refused to pay  for the looting of a  wecked ship of Sanur . the final battle is commermorated by the statue at the Lapangan Puputan in the central of Denpasar . across the streett is the Museum Bali with traditional artifacts. The huge Pasar badung offers everything imaginable for sale =, and Satria has bird market. The pura Maospahit temple has unusual architecture =, and beyond  the city in Mengwi are yadnya of ritual  items, and Bukit sari in the Sangeh monkey forest. Towards Sanur is the Werdy Budaya Art Center with  art collections and perfomances. Every june – july it holds the Bali Art festival, a celebrations of arts, crafts, music and dances. The beaches  in sanur are asfe for swimming, with sunrises over the nearby island of Nusa Penida, home of demon king of black magic. Sanur has many trance ceremonies and ritual dances to conteract his evil. Many purification rites are held on the beaches, particulary before lunar new year in march. Sea temples dot the coast, with the important, ancient sakenan of Serangan island furter south. At beaches in Kuta and Legian swim only in safe areas marked by flags, sanur and Kuta – Legian are know for their shops, restarant and night life. Towars the bukit penisula is the fishing villages of jimbaran  with pura Ulu Siwi. Trance ritual ften takes place in front of this tmple. On Bali’s souhtermost tip is brethtaking  Uluwatu great for viewing sunset with asmall colony of monkeys. Surfing beaches are located below  this temple. The luxury Nusa Dua offer star hotel class . fishing villges and a Chinese temple attest to the importance of Tanjung Benoa in seatrade.

NEGARA - BALI - INDONESIA

Some of Bali's oldest remains of prehistoric humans have been found in jembrana regency. Legend tell that sparsely populated West Bali got that way because its early inhaitants were cursed into invisibility for having violated the daughter of a powerfull priest. A rulling family related to the gelgel house was estabilished  here in the mid 1400s, but a dispute among its two founders let to civil war and destruction of the court. For a while the area was considered to be a marginal part of Badung Kingdom, and prince from Sulawesi set himself  up as ruler during 17th century with little problem. Karangasem nearly took  Jembrana in the late 1800s, but jembrana surrendered peacefully to the ducch before rival kingdom were subdued. Most of Jembrana includes the forest, mountain, and coasts of the West bali National Park and reserve. Visitors must obtain the necessary  permit and guide at the parking in cekik. Visitors might be lucky to see the rare white bali starling bird. Exelent diving and snorkling can be found around Pulau Menjangan Island, eith the Banyu Wedang hotspring nearby on the coast. Cact a ferry to Java at Gilimanuk port. Close to the district capital of negara is the temple of Gede Prancak near a river, while further east the Rambut Siwi complex has magnificent ocean views. A large fishing comunity has been estabilished at Pengambengan, and there is an exelent surfing beachMedewi. Cloves are grown on plantations in the foothills arounf Asah Duren. Bigger is better in Jemnbrana : huge bamboo xylophones of the gamelan jegog accompanies martial arts and dances. Kendang Mebarung competitions of large oversized drums  are sometimes held. exiting Makepung bull race takes place in the villages of Banyubiru and Delod Brawah during the dry season. Joged Bumbung groups wiht flirtatious dancers accompanied by smaller bamboo instruments are pupular arround tegal cangkring. 

BALI RELIGION AND TEMPLES



Balinese religion " agama Hindu Dharma " blends animism, buddism, and hinduism. Ancient beliefs in nature spirit  are the basic for including other faiths, but the keys is keeping a balance in the cosmos and within oneself. The main beliefs are the existence of a single  divine being, the individual soul, the effect of action of future rebirths, reincarnation of the soul, and eventual release from rebirth and union with the divine, ofering the deities, demons, humans, ancestors, and priests are gifts a thanks. Ceremony can be done almost anytime and anywhere. A pura or temple is walled in palace with inner courtyard containing shines and pavilions for the visiting deities. An odalan or anniversary celebration is a festive event whith music, dance, efferings, rituals, and worship all happening together. it is a much a time for socializing and entertaioment as it is a religious occasions.
Many visitors wishing can visit the temple festival sould follow basic rules of etniquette to make their experience more enjoyable, for the balinese apreciate those who show respect for their customs. Bathe first and then dress in balinese style or at least decenty in clean clothes - no shorts, unsleeved shirts, or skirts above the knees. A sash must always be worn around the waist. Entrance is forbidden to woman who are menstruating or who recently gave birth, and to anyone with bleeding wound or who had recent death of a close family member. Do not climb the structures , even walls, to take a photos. If making a close up ask the persons permition or show your itent. Avoid using a flash. Do not stand in front of anyone who praying or bringing offerings. Do not bring outside food and drink into the temple. Be on god behaviour and avoid sudden actions which may  be disrupting, for this is a verry important event and visitors are welcomed only if they make themself properly welcomed.
